Dr. Fu completed her residency in Pathology at the Yale University New Haven Hospital followed by a clinical fellowship in Renal and Genitourinary Pathology at Yale University School of Medicine.   She received her Medical degree at the Shihezi Medical College and her Ph.D. in cardiovascular pharmacology in Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China.  She then moved to the United States to work as a Postdoctoral Associate and Research Scientist at Yale University School of Medicine till she started the Pathology residency training.  She has published more than 40 peer-reviewed  research articles and presented at many conferences.  

Dr. Fu is currently a staff pathologist at Tampa General Hospital with a special expertise in native and transplant renal pathology.   She  is also an adjunct assistant professor at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. She is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and a member of the United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology, Renal Pathology Society and International Society of Urological Pathology.
